Wounded Knee Collection

These drawings were collected by Capt. R. Miller from the Sioux Indians at Wounded Knee Creek, South Dakota on January 8th 1891 (The Battle of Wounded Knee took place December 29th 1890). They were re-discovered in the Buffalo Bill Museums archives in 1939. Reprinted by the museum into a portfolio in 1961. Hopefully by recreating these images on leather we help rekindle the fire of recognition for a people who for centuries roamed freely over this vast land as the first Americans!
